Celebrate the Season in Pittsboro

There’s nothing like the holidays in Chatham County. From parades to tree lightings, there’s always something new and exciting happening in the area. If you’re spending your first holiday season in Chatham in 2022, you’re likely eager to establish new traditions. Keep these upcoming events in mind – they’re fun for the whole family!

Reindeer Run 5k

December 10 

When the temperatures plummet, there’s no better way to warm up than to get your blood flowing. Head to Central Carolina Community College for the annual Reindeer Run 5k race. Whether you’re just getting into running or are a tried and true marathoner, this event is sure to bring a smile to your face. The whole family can get in on the fun, with a ¾ mile fun run for kids. Proceeds from the event benefit physical activity in Chatham County. 

Pittsboro Christmas Parade

December 11

Head downtown to celebrate the season with Pittsboro’s annual Christmas parade! Marching bands, dancers, and Santa Claus himself will all be in attendance. This year’s theme is How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Expect to see plenty of fun costumes and unique floats in this charming small town parade. It’s another event that’s ideal for the entire family, so bring the whole crew.

Pittsboro by Luminaria

December 15

Need to cross a few more items off your holiday shopping list? Head to downtown Pittsboro for some especially atmospheric retail. Each store will be aglow with warmth and illumination from gorgeous luminaries. Pittsboro by Luminaria is a great way to get to know our town and to shop locally! Bring a piece of Chatham County home for the season. 

A Bazaar Night Market at the Plant

December 16
While not strictly a holiday event, the Bazaar Night Market at the Plant should definitely be on your seasonal to-do list. This free event is the perfect place to buy holiday gifts from local artisans. Enjoy food from Lily Den Farm and Vintage Scoops and music from Pittsboro’s own Waking Up Moe and Blues by Brendan Hinch. All of your favorite Plant establishments will be open, too –  if you haven’t yet checked out Hempsmith, BMC Brewing, Copeland Springs, Fairgame, Starrlight Mead or Chatham Axes, this event is the perfect time to do so.
