North Carolina Chinese Lantern Festival

Just when you thought the time for holiday fun was over, here is one more chance to take in some magic! While not exactly an holiday display the Chinese Lantern Festival is an spectacular visual light display that compliments the season.

When: November 22, 2019 – January 12, 2020- Tues.-Sun. 6-10pm; performances Tue.-Thurs. 6:30pm and 8pm, Fri.-Sun. 6:30pm, 7:30pm, and 8:30pm

Where: Koka Booth Amphitheatre, 8003 Regency Pkwy., Cary, NC 27518

Cost: $15 or$10 for under 15 or over 55- if purchased online. More at the door

This renown and exclusive festival is only found in a handful of locations nationwide! In its’ 5th year in the Triangle, the Chinese Lantern festival brings traditional Chinese Artists to the area. These artists use centuries old techniques to bring 20 elaborate lantern displays to life. Using newer age LED lights, the displays light up the sky with a fabulous animal theme. Some displays have movement or are interactive making each arrangement unique as well as beautiful.

In addition to the lanterns, this event highlights Chinese culture and includes live performances of traditional skills and talent. This type of artistry is most often scene around the Chinese New Year so its a perfect way to ring in the New Year.
