If you are still recovering from adventuring during the busy Memorial Day weekend, maybe you want to keep it local and low key this upcoming weekend. The first weekend in June brings the  11th annual Farm to Fork Picnic at Fearrington Village in Pittsboro.

This picnic brings together 35 local chefs while highlighting 14 food artists and breweries, with each providing samples of their products as well as local wine, coffee and tea. The chefs collaborate with local farm to feature seasonal ingredients in the dishes that you will be sampling. These collaborations are not your run of the mill menu, these will be innovative and inspiring as well as beautiful culinary delights!

Live music is also on the menu with Chapel Hill bluegrass band Big Fat Gap, and The Holland Brothers. There will also be a photo booth!

This event is an initiative of the Center for Environmental Farming Systems (CEFS)at NC State University. Proceeds go to support beginning farmer programs in an effort to stem the tide of farmer retention loss in America. Young farmers need all the support they can get as they fight high land prices, low product prices and more. CEFS provides young farmer training and apprenticeship programs as well as Incubator programs at two farm locations where farmers can learn business planning methods and lease land to begin their farming dreams.

Tickets for the picnic are $100 per adult, $50 for ages 12-20 (no alcohol), and kids under 12 are admitted free.
