Trunk-or-Treat and Dive In Movie

Halloween is coming quickly and as parents we worry about making sure our children have a great time.  We try to make sure they are with friends, get enough candy to make them jump up and down with excitement, have the costume they imagined, and more.  Mix things up this year and take your kids to a Halloween event like they’ve never been to before!

Trunk-or-Treat and Dive In Movie

These events are hosted by the Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation. There will also be games for guests to play. This event starts at 5:00pm on Saturday, October 24th. These events will take place at the Homestead Aquatics Center (300 Northern Park Drive).

There are about 150 anticipated youth coming for this event where individuals, organizations and businesses park their cars in a designated lot, with decorated trunks, and hand out pre packaged candy to trick or treaters. Instead of nocking on doors, the children stop at each car. The event is geared towards children 12 and under and decorations are meant to be festive yet not scary. The Trunk-or-Treat portion of the evening will start at 5:00p and end at 6:30pm.  Enjoy the free food, games, and trunk or treating!

If you are interested in being one of the volunteer cars handing out candy, contact Lizzie Burrill at or (919) 968-2798.

Dive In Movie

Many of us grew up with drive in movie theaters but a dive in is new to me!  The Disney Movie, Hocus Pocus (PG) will be played at the indoor pool. Be sure to bring your bathing suit to change into. Enjoy the film while relaxing in the pool, or lounging on the pool deck. Bring your own chair, floats, or blankets to make yourself comfortable while viewing the movie. The Dive In Movie beings at 6:30pm.
