The 2019 Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) observance will begin October 31st to November 2nd. This Mexican holiday is to honor those loved ones who have passed on. It has been heartily accepted by the American public and now we have several observances in the area.
4th Annual Death Fair
In Pittsboro this manifest as the Death Fair. Hosted by Abundance NC. This is by definition a fair with workshops, vendors, TED talks, kids’ fun, music, food and drink and more! In addition, you will see an interactive altar, art show, meditation, fire spinning and loads of candles. This is a celebration of life and an attempt to change the dialogue of death. The keynote speaker at the 4th annual event is author Charles Eisenstein. Come embrace life by acknowledging death while in remembrance of loved ones.

Day of the Dead at the City of Raleigh Museum
In collaboration with the Museum, the Artist Studio Project invites you to a day of the dead celebration with music, crafts, traditional food and dress, hot chocolate, art and more! Expect to see Baile Folklrico, Vicky Academy, Artist Lety Alvarez, Maracas Montessori, Larry Bellorin and more!

Artspace First Friday Dia de Muertos Celebration
Celebrate Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) at Artspace in Raleigh. Come for the food and drinks and stay for the art exhibits! Music and other merriment will be on hand as well. This is part of Raleigh’s Frist Friday Gallery Walk so make sure to enjoy the other downtown exhibits!

8th annual Casa Azul of Greensboro Day of the Dead event
The 8th annual Casa Azul of Greensboro Day of the Dead event will take place, from November 1- 15th at the following times:
- Tuesday to Friday, from 2:00 pm to 7:00 PM
- Saturdays from 12:00 to 5:00 PM and
- Sundays from 2:00 pm to 5:00 PM
The Ofrenda Exhibition will remain open as an honoring to the multi-day holiday focused on gatherings of family and friend to pray and remember loved ones. Alters are made, candles, flowers and even favorite foods are left in remembrance.
